Indonesian entertainment has undergone a radical transformation over the past two decades. While traditional television (TV) once dominated the cultural landscape with soap operas (sinetron) and talent shows, the rise of digital platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram Reels has democratized content creation. This paper analyzes the shift from "old media" to "new media" in Indonesia, examining how popular videos reflect local cultural values (such as familialism and gotong royong) while adapting to global digital trends. It concludes that Indonesian popular video is currently defined by hyper-localism, user-generated content, and the convergence of e-commerce with entertainment.
