The plot was simple: A family inherits an old bungalow in Kodaikanal, only to find every door and window sealed by iron chains ( sangili ) and mystical locks ( bungili ). A local legend says the ghost of a vengeous landlady, Maami, demands a ritual: at the stroke of midnight, someone must chant "Sangili bungili kadhava thorae" (break the chains, open the door) three times while watching her final scene. If done wrong, she enters the viewer’s world. After moving in, the family realizes they aren't alone
